Demonstrations a specialty!

In the tradition of
famous men of the 18th Century like George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Rittenhouse, and Merriweather
Lewis, the surveying of America is a time honored
profession. A great many modern land surveys still use
the products of these (and many other) frontiersmen. One
of the most outstanding surveys in the United States is
the Mason-Dixon Line which runs over 250 miles and is off
by less than two inches from its stated distance.
A qualified surveyor of
the Era was many things, a scientist, engineer,
mathematician, astronomer, and an explorer all rolled
into one. He had to be fearless in the face of danger as
well as being a skilled draughtsman capable of making
maps with exquisitely fine detail.
When in the role of an
Eighteenth Century Surveyor, Mr. Palmer is capable of
displaying and demonstrating both period surveying and
drafting tools along with many of the techniques of
surveying used at the time. He is also well versed in the
myriad facets of both military and civilian life of the
era.
